Green Halloween has noticed that the air is getting cooler, the leaves are turning colors and everyone is beginning to get geared up for Halloween. If you’re planning a party this year, there are lots of wonderful things you can do for decorations and getting the party planned. Start by decorating your house in fall and Halloween themes. Use a cool centerpiece by buying a pumpkin and placing it on a colorful autumn colored placemat. You can carve the pumpkin, or simply leave it as is. Gourds also make unusual and creative centerpiece as well.

Banners and garland are also excellent additions to your Halloween décor. Find rolls of crepe paper in colors like white, black, and orange and twist them together, then hang the home made garland throughout the house. Fake spider webs (which can be bought at many retailers during the Halloween season) also make a cool creepy decoration. Don’t forget to add the plastic spiders! You can buy large holiday themed cut outs in a huge selection of shapes and sizes as well, which will really give your home a cool look. Hang them on the doors and walls. Halloween parties can be themed for a great time as well. Come up with a creative theme, and then have everyone dress accordingly. You can do just about anything your heart desires, from a Harry Potter themed party, to Disney, to ghosts and ghouls, the list goes on and on.

Don’t forget drinks and snacks when planning your Halloween party. Creepy eyeball punch, ghoulish cookies, and caramel apples are just a few choices. Make all of your snacks as spooky themed as you can because it will add a cool look to the overall décor, and a lot of fun to the party. Use your imagination and be creative when it comes to decorating and planning your Halloween party. Try to come up with something unique that will add flair and a feeling of festivity.

Halloween brings about lots of different images, like pumpkins, witches, and ghosts. But perhaps one of the most memorable images and ideas related to Halloween are monsters. Those scary things that hide in the closet or under our bed, the stuff of old horror movies and folklore all make up an interesting cast of characters that leave us scared in the night. There are tons of great ideas for costumes when it comes to a monster Halloween party. You can choose to dress up as a mummy, vampire, werewolf, or swamp thing if you want to dress in traditional monster garb. Or, if you want to be a little more daring try a freaky alien, Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street, Godzilla, or Jason from the Halloween movies. Take your pick; there are tons of different monsters to choose from.

Once you’ve gotten your costume planned out, it’s time to decorate and get ready for the party. Use false cobwebs and strew them on tabletops and along the staircase. Light candles and dim the lights to give your home a more creepy effect (just be sure the candles are on a secure surface and far away from the reach of children). You can also play some spooky sounds on a pre-recorded CD. These CDs can usually be found at a number of retailers during the Halloween season and they contain cool sound effects that will give off an air of creepy ambiance. Look for cool statues or figures you can use like black cats, bats, or ghosts.

Do a little research and make some creepy snacks for your guests at the monster party. There are plenty of interesting recipes to choose from where you can make the food look as gross and creepy as possible but in reality, it tastes great. Some examples are strained eye balls, witch finger cookies, red popcorn, monster blood punch, and even maggot stew, just to name a few. Make as many snacks as you can with scary themes so it adds to the total feel of creepiness. With a little planning you can have an excellent monster Halloween party that your friends will remember for years to come.

Green Halloween wishes you an unpleasant, scary party!

How about “recycling”?? Here are some easy, cheap and fun ideas you can use for your Green Halloween Party entertainment.

First, instead of trying to do all of the work of decorating and preparing food yourself, why not combine the “recycling” concepts of left-overs and pot lucks, and ask each guest to contribute to the food, music and decorations.? To avoid having the party turn into chaos using this idea, you could outline the menu, music genre and color schemes and ask everyone to follow along.? For example, ask people to bring their favorite vegetarian appetizer, their favorite rock or jazz (on cd’s or mp3′s), and a black or orange centerpiece or balloon bouquet.

For entertainment, have each person on your party list brings 5 or more different ?dress up” props. Give instructions for people to bring crazy and unusual theatrical costume items: fright wigs, capes, feather boas, satin boxer shorts, Spock ears, rhinestone tiaras, fake mustaches…the more visually outrageous, the better. ? (And it is best if the articles are either large enough to fit anyone in the group or are one-size-fits-all.)

Then as each person arrives, write the name of each prop on a slip of paper and assemble all of the props on a table. Then everyone takes turns drawing for the name of one prop piece to wear.? Rotate through the group until all of the props are handed out. And keep your digital camera or video camera handy as everyone adds the oddball props to their costumes.? It’s a lot of fun to watch your 6-foot tall football player friend put on a long pearl necklace, big red clown nose and a top hat, or to see your prim and proper 5-foot tall accountant sister wearing a Groucho mustache and a fake bald head.

When everyone is “dressed” in their new costumes, it’s a good time to start a game of charades.? And remember to keep the cameras rolling. The pictures you will get from this party will be priceless!
